I led the design strategy for the Apply For Benefits flow for YES.NM.GOV, New Mexico’s health services and benefits portal. The work centered on simplifying a complex application experience by organizing 570 questions into manageable, guided flows, which helped people apply for the services they need with greater clarity and confidence.

Year
2026
The YES.NM.GOV home pages were designed as clear entry points to essential services, helping users quickly understand how to proceed.
GUIDED EXPERIENCES
Guided experiences turned complex tasks into simple select-and-go journeys. Flows like “Report My Changes” helped users make informed decisions and complete important updates without feeling overwhelmed.
DRIVER QUESTIONS
A key strategy for reducing application complexity is to use simple yes/no logic. This helps users skip sections that do not apply to them and answer only the questions relevant to their situation.
Beautifully designed forms made complex information feel approachable, organized, and easy to complete.
DESIGN SYSTEM
I created Turquoise, a design system aligned with Salesforce’s design framework, shaped specifically for the YES.NM.GOV experience, optimized for engineering efficiency, and built to support consistency at scale.
MOBILE FIRST
The experience was designed to feel natural across devices, with responsive patterns that made essential services accessible on mobile, tablet, and desktop.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT WIDGETS
Reusable widgets gave users control over their applications while helping developers create consistent screens more quickly.
